The series Restoration, is composed of contacts prints from 8x10 negative films taken with the large format Wista camera.
The Gelatine Silver Prints (30x40cm) are hand-printed by the artist in the darkroom, in a secondary moment gold and silver leaves were applied to their surface.
Gold and silver are the colour and material used in painting and literature to underline the sacrality and divine beauty of woman, who in the past was also defined as ‘angelic woman’.
These materials are eroding and revealing the portrait behind them, a pure and simple beauty in black and white.
The intention is to portray themes such as beauty, the passing of time and the caducity of earthly things using a symbolic restoration.
